It’s hard to believe we are at the end of 2016. Between working at the plant, writing blogs, managing the wildlife areas and chasing kids, this has been a very, very busy year. As I reflect on 2016, I can’t help but realize how incredibly blessed we really are. Priefert Manufacturing has continued to grow and with growth comes the need for employees. We are blessed to provide jobs for over 900 people. Instead of the “traditional wildlife blog”, I’d like to tell you about several things that have happened over the past year.
For starters, thanks to a couple of military veterans that now work for us, Priefert was awarded two different prestigious awards. During an award ceremony in April, seven Priefert supervisors, including myself, was awarded the “Patriot Award” from the Employee Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). Once again in August, Priefert Mfg., as a whole was awarded the “Above and Beyond Award” from the ESGR.
During the August ceremony, it was announced that Priefert would be collecting donation items for deployed troops through October. Thanks to an incredible group of employees and the surrounding community, we were able send 120 care packages for deployed troops, including two deployed Priefert employees
On a less exciting note, Radar, the 2006 - 2009 Guinness Book of World Record holder for Tallest Living Horse, passed away peacefully October 5, 2016 on the Priefert Ranch in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Born in 1998, Radar was a beautiful Belgian draft horse gelding who stood 19 hands 3.5 inches high and weighed over 2300lbs. He was a superstar and legend in his own right.
As I mentioned earlier, Priefert Manufacturing is growing rapidly. We have opened a warehouse in Boise, Idaho as well as a steel processing facility in Benton, Arkansas and Ft. Worth, Texas. Here in Mount Pleasant we are rapidly expanding the steel facility to add a 40,000 sq ft building for a five-inch tube mill. We have also built a new Priefert Scratch and Dent Outlet for the locals to purchase from. The most recent addition is the new loading docks for more efficient handling and staging.
To wrap up the year, Priefert had a great time at the NFR in Las Vegas. One of our endorsees, Tyson Durfey, won another world title and we were honored to have numerous athletes representing Priefert. In addition to getting a great opportunity to hunt at the Stuart Ranch, each one of us were able to come back to Texas with a buck. My brother Nate and his wife Bailey welcomed twin girls, McCall and McCoy, into the world in November. The most recent news is that my wife Randa and I will be having a baby in August 2017.
Lastly I would just like to say “Thank You” to everyone that has supported me in this wildlife blog adventure. We are improving the wildlife management areas day-by-day and it is a pleasure sharing the adventure with you. Keep in touch with us throughout next year as we will have more exciting things to share….such as four new wildlife products!
